A New era at the abaco club:

Inside a $350M Transformation in The Bahamas

MAY 20, 2026

There are places that simply exist—and then there are those that evolve with intention. At The Abaco Club, a new chapter is unfolding—one defined by thoughtful design, meaningful connection, and an elevated vision for private island living in The Bahamas.

With a $350 million transformation underway, Southworth is reimagining the member experience. This is more than an expansion—it’s a holistic evolution of how members engage with each other, their surroundings, and the natural rhythm of island life.

An Oceanfront Beach Club at the Heart of the Community

At the heart of this transformation is The Bay Club, a new oceanfront beach club set along the pristine shoreline of Winding Bay. Designed as the social and experiential hub of the community, it brings together relaxed coastal living and refined design in a seamless, intentional way.

Here, time moves effortlessly—whether spent poolside with family, enjoying sunset cocktails, or transitioning between indoor and outdoor spaces that feel both elevated and inviting. The result is a lifestyle that feels as natural as it is thoughtfully curated.

Redefining Luxury Through Experience

What sets this evolution apart is the philosophy behind it. From the ground up, The Abaco Club is building both operational excellence and a distinct cultural identity.

A focus on consistency, attention to detail, and a people-first approach shapes every interaction. Each space and experience is designed with purpose, creating an environment where members feel a genuine sense of belonging.

Here, luxury is not defined solely by amenities—but by how seamlessly everything comes together, and how it makes people feel.

A Community Designed for Connection

The transformation at The Abaco Club extends far beyond a single space. Across the club, new amenities and enhancements are creating a more dynamic and connected lifestyle. Every element is designed with intention—enhancing not just what’s offered, but how it’s experienced.  Additional new and enhanced amenities include:

  • Seven dedicated pickleball courts
  • El Diablo, a 40,000-square-foot, 18-hole putting course designed by Club Ambassador and PGA TOUR Champion Darren Clarke
  • Birdie Bar, a member hub adjacent to the putting course
  • Wake Field, a Fenway-inspired wiffle ball and multi-use field created in honor of the late, longtime member and MLB legend Tim Wakefield
  • The Perch oceanfront deck between the 17th green and 18th tee
  • Golf course enhancements by original architect Tom Mackenzie to enhance water views and overall course flow

As new residential neighborhoods take shape, The Abaco Club continues to grow as both a destination and a community. Each home and shared moment contributes to a lifestyle defined by ease, connection, and discovery.

While the investment is significant, the true impact lies in what it creates—a place that members return to not just for what it offers, but for how it makes them feel.
